FAQDuck Creek Pop Warner Football Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Q) When is the registration period?
Q) How can I get a registration form? A) You can download them from our website www.duckcreekpopwarner.net in either a pdf format
or word document after March 1st of the new year.
B) You can pick them up at either the Howard Village Hall or Suamico Village Hall Q) What needs to be included with the registration forms? A) On the registration form there is a “check off” area to help remind you of the items that need to
be included with the form, please use it.
B) Signed doctors slip saying he/she can play, the player does not necessarily need a physical that would be up to our son or daughters physician whether a physical is required to obtain the slip. C) A copy of the latest report card, could be 2nd quarter, 3rd quarter, end of year. D) Copy of the player’s birth certificate E) Two separate checks one for registration and one for equipment deposit (this one we do not cash unless equipment is not returned). F) Registration form completely filled out and signed by player Q) How do I know that my son or daughter is registered? A) After your registration is received it is entered into our system. The week after the end of
registration we mail out welcome letters to all registered players/parents.
B) We do not cash registration checks until after our equipment pickup/official weigh in date. C) We do not cash the equipment deposit check unless equipment is not returned at the end of the year. When equipment is returned you will receive your un-cashed check back along with all items in your file. We do not retain personnel information from year to year. Q) What times are practices and games? A) Practices are Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. When school starts the
times change from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Also towards the end of the season it will start to get
dark before 7:30pm and practices will be shorter.
B) For the first two weeks of practice the players will be required to practice 4 days per week. Monday thru Thursday, this is to get in our mandatory 10 hrs of non contact practices and 10 hrs of contact practices before we can play games. C) Games are Saturday mornings from 8:00am until 2:00pm. Games last 1.5 hrs roughly and will be scheduled inside that time frame and will differ from one week to another. Q) Can I get a refund for my Registration? A) We will refund your registration fee up to the official weigh-in day which occurs during
equipment pick up. That date usually falls around the first week of August.
Q) How are players drafted on teams? A) It is a blind draft every year.
B) All registrations get enter into a program called “League One” which we are mandated to use from Pop Warner. This program sorts players by age, weight and experience and puts them into the appropriate division. C) Once we receive the above list we than have to assemble a coaching staff for each team, remove their sons or daughters from the main list, and separate by division. D) We first make sure each division has enough players to host the amount of teams in each division and then we start a draft with the criteria to have all teams as equal as possible. This is not an easy task, especially in the younger divisions where primarily all players are new to the league. It is not a perfect system but we do the best we can with the tools we have. Q) If my child misses practices due to vacations, sickness, or various reasons will his play time be effected? A) It can affect his play in a game or scrimmage if he has not completed the required 10 hrs of
non-contact practice time and 10 hrs of contact practice time, which is required by Pop
Warner.
B) Each child is required to play a minimum of 12 snaps per game or more. This is a coach’s decision based on the skills of a player and his/her safety on the field. Q) Where are practices and games? A) Practices for the two lower divisions (Jr Pee Wee and Pee Wee) are held at Calavera Spring
Park. There is a map and directions on our website under “Park Locations”.
B) The upper division (Jr Midget) practice at Idle Wild Park. Directions are on our website under “Park Locations”. C) All games are played at Idle Wild Park in Suamico. Q) What equipment is needed by the player to play Pop Warner Football? A) The player is required to buy a mouth piece with an attachment to the helmet. The
mouth piece must have a color to it, it can not be clear. We do sell mouth guards at
equipment pickup but there is a limited amount, we recommend buying more than one
because they get chewed up in a hurry.
B) The player is recommended to have football cleats; it is not required but highly recommended. Soccer and Baseball cleats will work; the only difference is around the toe area. Cleats provide grip to the field and also allows a player to push off without slipping. C) All other equipment is provided by DCPW. Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Pants with Pads. Q) Are there any fundraising obligations? A) Each team is required to put together a team basket for our annual End of Year Banquet.
B) Each player will be required to sell raffles tickets to a large donated gift given away at the Banquet. C) We are always looking for team sponsors so if you know of a business or are a business owner yourself please contact the league president. Q) Can I register a player that is not in our registration area? A) Yes, if the other local Pop Warner or youth football organizations are full.
B) A player can not be in two leagues at the same time. Q) How can I volunteer as a board member or Asst board member? A) Fill out the “contact info” form on the website
B) Contact any existing board member C) We meet with all new volunteers in January usually the first Monday of the month. Q) How can I get email updates on DCPW? A) The Duck Creek Pop Warner Football League has a monthly newsletter and throughout the
development of the park, we will include news on our progress.
